The cryptocurrency sector witnessed a sharp 67 percent increase in attack frequency during August, with blockchain security firm PeckShield documenting 50 distinct incidents. Despite this surge in breaches, estimated financial losses actually fell by 49.5 percent from July, totaling $136.3 million for the month.

The remaining 49 security incidents collectively accounted for roughly $62.3 million in combined losses. This pattern, for what it's worth, suggests a proliferation of smaller, more frequent attacks across the digital asset space.
