Nigerian music icons P-Square, the twin brothers Paul and Peter Okoye, have officially reunited and are now actively producing their first album in nine years, with a promised release in 2023. This marks a significant return for the duo, who were pioneers of the Afrobeats sound before widespread music streaming.
A Tumultuous Journey and Reconciliation
The Okoye brothers, known by their solo pseudonyms RudeBoy and Mr. P, experienced a public split in 2017 after a successful run that included six studio albums and collaborations with global stars like Rick Ross and Akon. Mr. P also ventured into acting, appearing in "Lionheart" and Netflix's "Shanty Town." Paul Okoye candidly shared with CNN's Larry Madowo in Lagos, "Anything you see that happens to a (music) group, it’s the same thing that happened to us." He acknowledged the fan disappointment, adding, "We’re humans. It’s normal." To be fair, their individual careers also saw success.

Following their reunion last August, P-Square wasted no time, releasing the single "Jaiye (Ihe Geme)" to kick off their ambitious "100 Cities World Tour." The tour began in North America and is set to continue across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa later this year, signaling a strong comeback for the beloved group. Fans eagerly await their new musical offerings.
