Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports recently unveiled a comprehensive plan, proposing three substantial tourism stimulus projects, collectively valued at 2.45 billion baht. These initiatives are strategically designed to inject 56 billion baht into the national economy by invigorating both domestic travel and international visitor numbers. Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul underscored the critical necessity of these measures during a public-private committee meeting held on Wednesday, highlighting their role in navigating global competition and economic challenges.
Key Stimulus Schemes Detailed
The proposed package includes three distinct schemes. The "Thai Teaw Thai Plus" domestic co-payment initiative, budgeted at 1.75 billion baht, offers a 50% subsidy on accommodation costs. Initially, 500,000 privileges will be allocated, allowing each person up to five bookings, capped at 3,000 baht per reservation, and includes a 500-baht coupon for various local services. This scheme alone is projected to generate 32 billion baht in economic value and 1.66 billion baht in tax revenue, for what it's worth. Another component, the "Fly Thai All the Feelings" scheme, allocates 200 million baht for discounts on 400,000 domestic airline seats, providing 400 baht off for first-tier cities and 600 baht for second-tier destinations. This is expected to contribute 1.6 billion baht to the economy.

Boosting International Arrivals
To bolster international tourism, the "Thailand Air Connect" scheme commits 500 million baht to subsidize 600 charter flights, targeting 87,000 inbound travelers and aiming to attract 400,000 overseas visitors. The subsidy rate for these flights depends on an 80% minimum load factor, promising 23.2 billion baht in tourism revenue. The committee plans to submit these proposals for swift approval to the Joint Public-Private Consultative Committee for Economic Problem Solving, pending final budget allocation from fiscal years 2026 or 2027.
