He accused "Meet the Press" host Kristen Welker of "purposeful inaccuracy" for describing his election endorsement record as "mixed results." This demand, posted on Truth Social, highlights Trump's ongoing strategy of using federal agencies to target media figures he perceives as critical.

Allegations of "Fake News" and FCC Authority

Trump specifically cited recent wins by Darline Graham and Mike Mazzei, claiming a near-perfect endorsement rate of 100% for the U.S. Senate and 98% for the U.S. House. He questioned how such statements could be made on "freely given Public Airwaves," attaching "results" to his post. Trump also expanded his criticism to "fake polls" and attacked New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman, labeling her "Maggot Haberman" and demanding she return earnings from "fake reporting."

Historical Precedent and Current Stance

The FCC's official website states the commission "cannot prevent the broadcast of any particular point of view" and "generally will not intervene" in complaints about "one-sided news reports," citing First Amendment protections. Former FCC Chairman Ajit Pai previously affirmed the FCC lacks authority to revoke licenses based on newscast content. However, the current FCC Chairman, Brendan Carr, has reportedly embraced a role more aligned with Trump's directives, departing from the commission's traditional independence from White House interference.
