Roku, a prominent name in streaming technology, has announced its foray into the premium television segment with the introduction of its inaugural OLED TV models. After years focused on affordable QLED offerings, the company now targets consumers seeking superior visual experiences, launching the Roku Pro Series OLED and the Roku Pro Series LX OLED TVs. These new displays promise the characteristic deep blacks of OLED panels, integrating the advanced software features previously seen in Roku's Mini-LED backlit Pro TVs.

Introducing the Pro Series OLED

The Roku Pro Series OLED TV is currently available in 55-inch and 65-inch variants. Its design features a sleek, thin metal bezel, ingeniously relocating ports to the bottom two-thirds of the display to maintain a razor-thin top half. This model boasts a 4K 120Hz panel, offering expansive viewing angles and supporting Dolby Vision. Furthermore, it includes Smart Picture Max for automatic setting adjustments and Automatic Game Mode, which intelligently detects gaming activity to enable variable refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium. A voice remote with backlit buttons and customizable shortcuts accompanies the TV.

Anticipating the LX OLED Model

Details surrounding the Roku Pro Series LX OLED TV remain somewhat scarce. Roku confirms this model will deliver "a brighter picture" and feature a 144Hz variable refresh rate, alongside an advanced polarizer designed to minimize reflections. While specific panel differences or available sizes are yet to be fully disclosed, it will incorporate all Pro Series software functionalities. A key upgrade for the LX OLED is a rechargeable Roku Voice Remote, offering enhanced convenience over its battery-powered counterpart. For what it's worth, Roku's strategic move into OLEDs aims to provide a compelling balance of user-friendly software and quality screens at competitive prices, albeit within an ecosystem tied to its advertising revenue.
